English is international language, and we always communicate with each others from different parts of the world by using this. Lots of questions are asked by the freelancers and the most common question is why English language is important for freelancing. Today I am going to discuss with you on this topic.
Is English language essential for freelancing?
If you want to do freelancing through any marketplace like Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancers then we must have English knowledge, because without English language we can’t communicate with others. We may don’t know other language that is using in other countries, so any buyer visit our profile and asked something with their mother language we will never understand them actually what are they looking for. But English is using as international language which is easier to communicate with each others. So definitely English is essential for freelancing.
What should we keep in mind for communicate?
Well when we are working as a Freelancer in any marketplace, and we are providing our skills or services then communication part is most important. That’s why language barriers should be overcome by us. To make an easy communication we need to learn at least basic English for communication then we can develop our English skill’s day by day. I would prefer to follow these four steps for better communications and these are:
- Reading Capability
- Writing Capability
- Listening Capability
- Speaking Capability
If we can follow these we must do something better in our respective fields.
Reading Capability:
So the first steps of communication is to understand what our buyers are asking and want from us. They will first send their queries or asked something by messages on any marketplace (Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancers). So if we can’t read what they’ve written then we can’t reply to them. So basic part of communicate in freelancing sector is reading. If we understand what they asked then we can tell them from our end.
Writing Capability:
Second steps of communication is to reply the queries over the platforms. So we must know basic English words and know how to reply them through English. If we can’t write them properly then there will be some communication gaps will show and our clients will not understand our reply. So to avoid any miscommunication when we chat with each other then we must know how to reply them. It is also easy to for communicate with them because a lot of freelancers those who are not expert in English and can’t speak up. So there will be no problems for uttering any words or sentences. I think this is best and easy for communicate with each others.
Listening Capability:
Pronunciation is crucial, people will come to us from different countries, and they will speak in English, but their pronunciations will be different from each others. So it is important for us to understand what they’ve uttered, because if we don’t understand what exactly they’ve asked for then we can’t reply to them. When a buyer what to take your interview directly through zoom or other software then we need to talk each others directly so it is important for any freelancers to understand their voice.
Speaking Capability:
The most important part for communication is to speak up! Yes, if you can’t express your voice then they will not understand you. So we need to learn speaking in English. Though it is tough for some people because they don’t have someone who can help them to talk to each others. So my suggestions is you can talk to yourself in a room for practicing English for long time, its better if you use mirror to watch the other person whom you’re talking with, and it will help you to overcome the shyness.
